DESCRIPTION:Research has shown that 80% of litter found in oceans\, originates inland.  Due to human behaviour of littering and  lack of waste management\, waste finds its way into rivers which eventually lead to our oceans. \nThe plastics industry and partners are taking action by identifying river catchment areas in the various provinces and assisting with solutions to the problem of litter in our waterways. \n\n\nInternational Day of Action for Rivers is annually observed on March 14 for the following purposes: \n\nTo highlight the importance of rivers in our lives.\nTo raise awareness about how freshwater ecosystems like rivers are increasingly being polluted due to human activities.\nTo promote and safeguard equitable access to clean and flowing water.\n\n
